RELEASE: NCBI dbSNP Build 128

dbSNP Build 128 is now available for searching on the web
(http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/SNP/). Organisms containing new mapping
information in this release are indicated in the Build Statistics Table
below with a Genome Build number. Other organisms will be available
soon. Please also see the release notes below for important changes and
updates.

New Mouse 37 assembly and genebuild (Mus musculus)

A new genebuild is now available for the latest Mus musculus assembly, NCBI m37. For release 47 the annotation presented is a combined Ensembl-Havana geneset, which incorporates more than 15,000 full-length protein-coding transcripts annotated by the Havana team in addition to the Ensembl automatic gene build.

To aid transition between the two assemblies, we have provided an assembly converter wizard which allows you to upload a GFF file containing chromosomal co-ordinates for your features on m36 and outputs the results as the corresponding locations on m37.
New genebuild on human assembly NCBI 36 (Homo sapiens)

We have generated a new human gene build on the existing assembly, NCBI36. This has focused on accurate transcript placement and UTR extensions, using both new methods and new data such as ditag information. In comparison with previous releases, this build now has more Met-to-STOP coding transcripts and the use of ditag information provides more accurate UTR extensions to the most-used transcription start point for a transcript.
